"Two Acrobats with a dog" by Pablo Picasso, 1905
The painting sparked the nostalgia of my youth. Not that I ever recall seeing any acrobats, but that I, myself considered myself an acrobat. No, I didn't walk any tightropes but I did love gymnastics, still do, and climbed the walls...literally!
For my piece, entitled Circus Life, I pulled all the elements from the painting that I love...the geometric, diamond pattern, a splash of rosy orange, sand, and lots of different colors from the blue family.

I'm thrilled with this piece, not to mention that it'll wear with lots in my wardrobe...or yours, and I'm totally digging the diamond connector.
Also, this month ABS is encouraging subscribers to donate a blue bracelet to the 7000 Bracelets Project. This program offers awareness and support for caregivers of children with rare genetic diseases.

I love the very personal way you interpreted Picasso's painting, and bringing the diamond shape into the design of the toggle - positively inspired!
ReplyDeleteShelby, this is an awesome combination of colours and shapes that reflects the July ABS theme.
ReplyDeleteI really like all the different elements of this bracelet - lovely :) (PS I came here through the ABS blog hop!)

Very fun piece, I love the ecclectic feel. I love gymnastics as a little one too. I just helped my 2 year old through her first gymnastics class this spring - what a hoot! months of practice and she has just figured out how to push herself the whole way over on a front roll. Mostly though, she likes to walk up the wall into a headstand - I'm ready for her to be an acrobat :)
