81 to 19 in 2.5 hours

It's been a winter like no other...

Last week the kids were on winter break. We headed down to Florida for a first time visit to Disney and finished the week up in Palm Beach. It was wonderful...an escape from school and the frigid temps at home. We LOVED Disney although it was exhausting. It was a whirlwind of activity and opening and closing the parks everyday. The weather was perfect, just cool enough that a sweatshirt was in order most days.
The last two days of vacation we headed down to a friends house in Palm Beach. Fabulous weather...sunny and 80+ degrees, besides we needed a vacation from our vacation. We enjoyed lots of R&R in the sun while the kids swam. Unfortunately, the beach was closed because of the sharks:(
Saturday, we flew back amongst lots of flight cancellations and horrendous winter weather. This always seems to be our luck! We finally landed in Philly, a brisk 19 degrees and our departing flight cancelled. Desperate to get home we rented a vehicle, took our lives into our hands and trudged for home. We arrived home to 10 inches of snow on the ground (that's A LOT for us!) This much snow cripples our area...all the schools are closed, and we are confined to the house today as the roads are a total mess! I'm hoping to see a snow plow today, lots of sunshine to start melting the roads a bit, and our luggage.
All in all a great trip and we love the snow...as long as we don't have to travel in it.
Here's to a fabulous week!

Still Playing with Clay & Got Snow?

You know the feeling...when you awake in the night and it seems brighter than normal? Snow...we awoke this morning to a winter wonderland, so beautiful. There was about 1 1/2" of snow on the ground and it's still snowing. The forecast was that we were to get less than 1" of snow, so this was a real surprise.

Around here it doesn't snow much, so even with the slightest bit of snow schools close. The kids are super excited...snow and no school, a win win. However, they both have projects and essays due next week so we will be working on them. My son has to write an essay on his patriotic role as a U.S. citizen. Deep for an 8 year old.

Yesterday, I played with clay some more. Mostly I was trying to experiment with mixing colors and getting the beads the same size with a nice round shape. The size a shape are challenging me a little, but I had loads of fun. Besides, it's too cold to work out in my workshop...no heat, BURR!
Have a fabulous weekend:) And keep warm!

Our First Snowfall

We had our first and possibly only snowfall of the season. We only had a dusting but the kids were super excited none the less. We don't receive much snow at all, but this is the earliest snow that I recall in years. So maybe we're in for a cold winter...hum...

I love the peaceful, calming feeling of a blanket of snow. So relaxing amid a season of hustle and bustle.

The beginnings of what became an enormous snowball.

Our miniature size snow girl.

Thursday was our last day of school and the annual Candlelight Service. The children always put on a great performance. I especially like this performance, as it reflects the true meaning of Christmas.

This year my son's class played their recorders. They did GREAT!

And how appropriate for my angel to be an angel...Isn't she just SO cute...lol, I just couldn't resist.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend:) Cheers...
