New Work & Some Thoughts

I took the time earlier this week to list some new pieces in my Etsy shop. What can I say, I'm in love with all the new pretties! My muse has definitely made the switch to summer.

Case and point! Lots of colorful faceted gemstones and shiny sterling silver wirework links. This necklace can be worn long or doubled.
This necklace was such a pleasure to create! I haven't really gone crazy with the wire so much lately, but it felt great to really dig in with the wirework and piece it all together.

The wirework has taken a back seat to metal lately. I super, love this bangle! (can I say that?) May be a few more of these in the works.
Working with metals is great because there are times when I really need to be on my toes and concentrate, like when I'm wielding the torch. Then, when it comes time to sand, it's time to relax (it can get a little mundane), and I can get lost in my thoughts.

Update: Sold - Thank you!

One thing that I love in the summer is a "go to" pair of earrings! These are great because there is no thinking involved, put them on with your favorite sun dress or your bathing suit to sit poolside. Love all the texture from the coiling!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Studio Time

Finally, I had some time to steal away to the workshop. I only had a short amount of time...there was no awe inspiring project in mind or plan at all for that matter...only that I wanted to be fiddling with my tools, metal, and wire. You know a few therapeutic moments where a hammer feels really good in your hand.

This pendant is layered...textured brass, copper, and sterling. The layers are riveted together with the spiral. Definitely need some more practice riveting...sometimes the rivets come out perfectly and others, well lets just say...ugh! Could the spiral be the problem?

I love bangles. There was a bangle type project in the newest issue of Belle Aimore that I have been stalking. With that in mind, and cutting the length of wire too long...I came up with these. The base wire should probably be a little heavier, but I love how they turned out and they're great for layering.

Finally, I've been making toggles...scoot on over and check them out in my Etsy shop. I love these. They don't require a whole lot of thought and I have super fun with them!

Hodge Podge

It's been a long time...too long...since I've made a new piece. I've really been jonesing to pull out my wire and get to work on something, with a more rustic, primitive feel. No beads just wire, with no set design in place I started cutting and wrapping and let the wire and my fingers kind of do their own thing while I mindlessly watched.

The bangle has a true rustic look, don't you think? It totally reminds me of a log cabin we stayed in while vacationing in Colorado. It will look great layered, or by itself. Visit my Etsy shop to claim this bracelet for you own.

And more wintry weather. A blizzard today. Freezing, Snowing, and Windy outside, all bundled up inside. I'm sure many of you may be experiencing much of the same. Cozy up and have a great weekend!

Desert Stone Bangle

Last week was spring break for us. We went away for a few days, but the rest of the week I was home with the kids, therefore didn't really get to much done. And especially didn't get to craft any new pieces. However, my dear hubby took the kids for the weekend to PA. So I created to my hearts content this past weekend.

I had so much fund creating this bracelet. It has lots of coiling and wire beads...which I love!! I also really like the oxidized copper with these lampwork beads. It really makes them stand out. This bangle is a little different style than what I normally create. In the past bangles have always been a hard sell. They are so size specific...it seems that whenever a client has been interested in a bangle, it's either too small or too big. This bangle has been left open, therefore can easily be adjusted to fit almost any wrist.

Check this bangle out in my Etsy shop.
